SU Course Reps

WHAT ARE SU COURSE REPS?

Students’ Unions in the UK often work alongside students (SU Course Reps) who offer their time in a voluntary capacity to collect feedback and pass it on to the university with the aim of improving the overall experience of students on their course.

SU Course Reps are usually assigned to each course per year group. This means that the typical number of Course Reps for one course is three - however, we understand that things aren’t always like that and are happy to make it work for the course!

We like to elect SU Course Reps in the first five weeks of term - so regardless of whether you are a September or June starter, there is an SU Course Rep role waiting for you!

WHAT DO THEY DO?

SU Course Reps collect feedback on the experiences of students inside and outside of lectures - we want to hear a well-rounded view of what student life is really like!

Course Reps will then feed back to university meetings and to us (the Students’ Union) so that there can be either recognition of good experiences or a great attempt to resolve some not-so-good experiences.

WHAT DO THEY NOT DO?

Help students with issues of a personal or sensitive nature or individual complaints or appeals.

Work without the support from Beds SU.

WILL I GET IN TROUBLE FOR BEING HONEST?

No! The opinions of you and your classmates will not impact you. We need people to be honest about what life as a student is like so that it can get better.

Remember, if we don’t know about a problem, we cannot solve it!

WHAT IS IN IT FOR ME?

Many things! First of all, it is a voluntary role, this means you do it all for free. Volunteering is a fantastic way to grow your skills and enhance your CV.

We will be collaborating with the University Careers and Employability Department so that you can log the hours that you spend as an SU Course Rep. These hours will then build up over time and you can get a certificate at the end of the year (bonus points for the CV!)

You will learn transferrable skills like time management, effective and polite communication, problem-solving skills and much more!

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF COURSE REPS?

As a minimum, we expect you to:

- Attend our training

- Be in contact with us

- Collect feedback

- Attend the university meetings that we invite you to

- Enjoy your role

I WANT TO BECOME AN SU COURSE REP!
