Powered by Experience public lecture - Nadine White
As part of Black History Month, UoB welcomes award-winning journalist and filmmaker Nadine White for an evening of storytelling, careers and representation.
Nadine is the founder of Black Current News and, in 2021, became Britain’s first dedicated Race Correspondent.
Nadine will share her journey from working in local newsrooms to national newspapers, founding her own media platform and making her documentary Barrel Children: The Families Windrush Left Behind, which became a UK box-office hit.
She’ll talk honestly about what it takes to build your own career, including taking risks, dealing with setbacks and creating opportunities for yourself.
She’ll also share what she has learned about representation and finding purpose in your work, as well as her advice for anyone thinking about a career in journalism, filmmaking or the creative industries.
