October in the UK and Ireland is Black History Month, a month-long celebration that honours the too-often unheralded accomplishments of Black Britons in every area of endeavour throughout our shared history.
Each year, Beds SU likes to mark this important month of recognition by holding a series of events. This time round, we’re have three special events for you to get involved in.
Canerows Demonstration + Q&A
Tuesday 18 October at 12:30pm
Think Tank, Luton Campus
Find out the role canerows play in black culture both today and historically. There'll be a live in-person demonstration of cancerous being braided, followed by a Q&A session.
Get Social Club Nights: Afrobeats
Thursday 20 October at 11pm
The Metro, Luton Campus
A Dedicated night of Afrobeats music, as part of our series of regular club nights.
Party and Paint
Wednesday 26 October at 6pm
The Metro, Luton Campus
Enjoy the vibes while you create artwork that's inspired by Black History Month. We'll bring the art supplies and the music, you can just bring yourself along.
All of these events are completely FREE to attend and there’s no need to pre-book a ticket. We look forward to welcoming you to these events and to celebrating black culture as part of Black History Month 2022.
