The event was the brainchild of Beds SU Co-President Chidinma Akwada and Co-Vice President Amina Awal who were keen to highlight the outstanding achievements of black women in society.
The panellists were drawn from a variety of industries including Tec, Entertainment, Higher Education and Business and spoke about their career journeys, aspirations, gender and racial stereotypes and how they achieve balance throughout their personal and professional lives.
Over 70 students enjoyed the discussions and were given the chance to ask questions and network with the panel during and after the event.
Amazing feedback
Speaking afterwards, Chidinma said, “We were so proud to give students the opportunity to hear from such inspirational black women and were humbled that they gave up their valuable time to share their stories.
Feedback from everyone involved has been amazing and we are already looking at hosting similar events in the future.”.
