Important changes for 2024 Student Elections

Beds Students’ Union is run by students, for students. This month we start our search for the next two students to lead the organisation during the upcoming 2024/25 academic year but things have changed a bit for 2024!

At Beds SU, we constantly review the way we think, behave, and look based upon feedback, experiences, and the needs of you, our members.

So, earlier this year our Officers proposed a change to the structure of the Sabbatical Officer team you elect to better allocate Union resource, give you better visibility and access to reps.

Four becomes six

We wanted to reduce the full-time team to two Co-Presidents, and introduce four part-time Faculty Officers, one for each Faculty of the University. These will be current students from YOUR Faculty, spending time with YOU in improving YOUR student experience.

The changes were a result of our annual review process to ensure our Bylaws are up to date and we were delighted that our students voted to accept the change in format.

Interested in a role?

The election of two Co-Presidents will be happening very soon. The nomination period for candidates is 29 Jan - 14 Feb and voting commences on 26 February until 7 March. The winners will be announced on Monday 11 March. If you are interested in one of the roles you can register your interest now. We'll then keep you up to date with all of the deadlines and what you need to do next.

The four part-time roles will be elected in September 2024.

Please note: In order to be eligible for these roles, you must have been a registered student at the University of Bedfordshire at the close of registration on 24 November 2023 AND on 7 March 2024 when voting closes.
