A NEW VOICE IN THE BEACON

Hello everyone,

My name is Aisha Salmon. I am excited to be a new editor alongside other crew members for The Beacon. I will be working alongside Amia, as Co-Editor to deliver great write-ups, experiences and tips that will both be beneficial to you and most importantly, your academic career. As someone who is navigating academic life just like you, I look forward to us learning and growing together.

WHO IS AISHA SALMON?

To give you a little bit of background,

I am a Nigerian who moved to the UK about a year ago. If you ask me how the experience has been, I'd say it has been fun meeting people from diverse backgrounds and changing the locality I've always known.

I am a year 1 student of computer science in the Creative Arts and Technology department of the great university of Bedfordshire. I have interests in the world of tech especially the aspect of manipulating and getting insights from data through data analysis. This led me to choose this course while taking voluntary online courses to harness my skills.

Like many of you, I am juggling coursework, assignments and study while also on the lookout for great perspectives and an opportunity to build my professional portfolio to make myself employable by garnering relevant experiences. This led me to volunteer as an editor for The Beacon to write texts that are worthwhile.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ME AS A BEACON EDITOR

As a new editor, I plan to share contents that not only informs but inspires ranging from topics on productivity, career wellbeing, health, time management, study techniques and so on. I'll also share some tools and apps that will help streamline your workflow as students.

WHY I'M EXCITED TO BE HERE

I am of the notion that the best place to connect to like minds is while at a tertiary institution because you might never be in community of like minds and population again. In addition, I believe in a community-driven environment that allows for teamwork and networking, all which The Beacon aids and more.
