The campaign highlights the challenges that unpaid carers face and the contribution they make to their families and local communities across the UK.
Who is a Carer?
A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or a friend that has a disability, illness, mental health condition, addiction or needs extra help.
What about taking care of yourself?
As a carer it is important for you to take care of your health and wellbeing, but it can be challenging. There can be times where you may struggle to eat and sleep well.
When you can find time to exercise and mange your stress levels.
Being a carer can feel lonely or isolating but there are support services at the University that can offer support.
Have you told the University that you are a carer?
Are you under 25 and a care leaver? The University have a range of support information on their website to support you, including funding and drop ins.

Student Engagement and Mitigation (SEAM) Support
If you are needing an extension on a piece of work please reach out to the Mitigation team by submitting a form to the team, the form can befound on their website page.

University Mental Health Team
The mental health team at the University can offer advice and guidance for students to help support you throughout your studies.

University Counselling Team
The University offer counselling to students. This service offers you the opportunity to talk in confidence with someone who is impartial and separate from work, social and family life.

Money Advice
If you are in financial hardship or struggling with money worries. please reach out to Student Money Advice team. They offer free, impartial and confidential advice. You may also be able to qualify for financial assistance but do get in touch with them to see if it’s possible as this is means tested.
Beds SU
Beds SU offer advice and guidance to all registered students studying at Luton, Bedford and Aylesbury campuses at the University. We provide an independent, private and confidential service apart from the University.
Our Advisors can offer guidance and support in all aspects of your student life from housing to your studies; we are here for you.
We also offer a Community Pantry to students for whenever you are facing food crisis and do not know where their next meal s coming from. If you are looking for any kind of help and support, please do get in touch with us via Help@BedsSU.co.uk

Carers Trust
Carers Trust partner with local carer organisations to provide funding and support for carers who provide unpaid care for family members and friends.
They provide support for Money, Health and Wellbeing, getting a break from caring responsibilities and supporting carers who help care for someone with specific conditions.
