Summer opening hours:
During August Beds SU will be open Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays accessible by appointment at help@bedssu.co.uk. The SU will be closed Thursday and Fridays and there will be no staff onsite or online during these days.
Our Beds SU website is full of helpful information, and you can contact us via email help@bedssu.co.uk and your message will be responded to within 7 calendar days.
Advice and Support
Ensuring we are here for you in your student life remains our top priority.
- Our wonderful Advice team have worked tirelessly on populating our Knowledge Hub with over 100 articles on matters such as Academic Appeals, Accommodation and Mental Health to equip students with the information and support they require. We encourage all students to visit the Knowledge Hub and search for guidance before seeking an appointment.
- From 1 August to 22 August we will only be open Monday – Wednesday with reduced capacity for Drop-Ins.
To support as many students as possible in this time, we will be holding a weekly Appeals Workshop online. These are provisionally booked for Tuesdays but this may change depending on staff availability. We strongly recommend that you email help@bedssu.co.uk in the first instance so that we may direct you to the fastest source of advice at that point in time.
Community Pantry
From the 1 August our Community Pantry will be paused. We’re still working on plans to continue the Pantry next academic year and will update when possible. We are conscious that for some students this is a much-needed service and have sourced alternative local foodbank options that can support you during this time. For full details please click here for Luton and here for Bedford.
Help Desk:
We will no longer be operating a physical helpdesk or reception for Beds SU. Please contact us via or head to our website.
The Metro
The café and bar will be closed throughout August, reopening as follows:
The Metro Bar - Sunday 14 September
The Metro Cafe - Monday 15 September
Evening events will launch from Sunday 14 September as part of Welcome and details of these activities can be found on our events page.
Starting from September opening hours for the Metro will be 09:00-17:00 Monday to Friday, unless advertised otherwise. The Metro will continue to be your space to come and relax with friends and enjoy refreshments including some hot and cold food options.
The Hub
The is now closed as per the usual summer patterns and will reopen as part of Welcome week plans in September on Sunday 14 September. Check out our events page for details of planned events for Welcome.
In the coming months we will share details of our strategy for the year and plans on how we intend to continue supporting you in your studies, extra-curricular activities and most importantly through representing your rights and needs.
