The 2026 Elections have gone by in a blur of wonderful activity. Over 10 days the candidates worked tirelessly to engage students and secure your votes. The hard work paid off, a record 1,560 students voted and 4,487 votes were cast over our 5 elected positions and the Priorities.

We received 54 applications with 24 students moving forward to stand in the elections for two full-time Student Campaigns Lead positions and three part-time Student Champion roles.

Please welcome and congratulate your elected team for 2026/27:

Student Campaigns Lead 2025/26

Maria Serafim - (role reserved for a ‘Home’ fee-payer)

Hauwa Ataja - (role reserved for a ‘International’ fee-payer)

Maria will take up her role in July alongside Hauwa who has been re-elected for a second year. Together they will lead on the Student Priorities alongside ongoing and emerging student matters.

Student Champions 2026/27

Representing students across the three faculties are:

Aleena – Health, Community and Life Sciences (HCLS)

Kushalpreet Singh – University of Bedfordshire Business School (UBBS)

Harsh Tripathi – Technologies, Education, and Social Sciences (TESS)

Each of the Student Champions will focus solely on representing students in the courses and departments of their Faculty on the matters most important in their school experience. These positions are part-time and each of the students will carry out their roles alongside their studies. They will take up their positions in September.

Student Priorities

Alongside voting for the students we asked you to vote on the Student Priorities that mattered most to you. This year there were six to choose from with the two receiving the most votes selected. The following will become the primary topics of focus for your team to deliver on:

Improving Uni for Students who Travel

Student Wellbeing and Belonging

Work on these matters will be conducted alongside other projects or campaigns as they arise.

Until then don’t forget you can reach out and keep up to date with your current Student Affairs Team here.
