When you join the University of Bedfordshire, you don't just join the University - you also become a member of Bedfordshire Students' Union (Beds SU)!

We are here to help every student get the most out of their university experience. We campaign on issues that you care about, as well as provide lots of opportunities for you to meet new people, develop your skills, campaign for change and try something new!

Advice

In order to make sure your voice is heard throughout the year we rely on student representatives.

We have elected student representatives for different communities within the University to make sure we represent everyone.

You can become a student leader for any of the communities you are a part of.

Beds SU has two fantastic venues available – The Metro in Luton and The Hub in Bedford. Both venues were recently refurbished in a modern, rustic style.

The purpose of Beds SU’s Board of Trustees is to ensure as a charity we are well run, deliver a solid and strategic plan and operate within the law. The Board holds a number of positions for students and applications for 2026 roles are now open!

Becoming a Student Trustee is a unique opportunity that offers successful applicants the opportunity to:

• improve your employability skills

• learn from industry professionals

• gain volunteering credits

• experience being part of a decision-making team

• advance your negotiating skills

• can add it to your CV and LinkedIn profile.

These positions are voluntary and require those appointed to be available for approximately five days throughout the year to attend meetings both in person and online. They are designed to be flexible around your study commitments. As part of your role you will be part of conversations around how the SU is run, our future and have a say on new priorities and initiatives.
