With the success of the first Green Fashion Show taking place last academic year, Beds SU are proud to announce the second edition of the Green Fashion Show is coming soon…

Last academic year saw the introduction of the Green Fashion Show, after extensive research into how the cost-of-living had been impacting you was carried out by the Students’ Union. After the successful launch last year, we’re proud to announce that the Green Fashion show is making its return for 2023/24 academic year, only this time, as the Festive Green Fashion Showcase!

Everyone can participate in the Fashion Showcase

This opportunity is open to all students! You may be a seasoned pro with multiple Christmas socks and sweaters to your name, or maybe you’ve never picked up a needle and thread in your life – we want you all to get involved! 

We will also be hosting a Showcase Workshop on Wednesday 29th from 12pm-1pm at the back of the Metro, Luton Campus where you can plan your projects, work on festive designs and enjoy a free mince pie on us to get the festive feelings flowing! For more info you can view the event page here.

We want you to create something by recycling or upcycling materials, for example old t-shirts or unused bedsheets. We want you to be as creative as possible, but we also want to highlight the importance of recycling as we push towards a greener future.

The main theme is Sustainable Festivity. Therefore, anything you create should somehow relate to the festive season. There is however a category for those who wish to enter without adhering to the festive theme. For the eagle-eyed amongst you, you’ll recognise a slight reduction in the number of categories. This year, we have three categories that you could enter:

1. Festive. (Anything with that will inspire some festive joy)

2. Non-Festive. (Even if you’re not feeling the festive cheer, you can still enter a piece)

3. Accessories. (Think belts, hats, scarves, jewellery etc.

And yes, there will still be a prize for the piece with the most votes!

When and where:

We will host the fashion show in the Metro, Luton Campus on Friday 1st December from 12pm-2pm, where you will be able to showcase your creations. Won’t be able to attend? Don’t worry, we will ensure that your designs are still celebrated and kept in the running!

Again, this opportunity is open to all students! Whatever campus you may be on and no matter whether you’re a foundation student or a postgraduate, we would love for you to join in with us in one of our last events of the calendar year! To take part, you can sign up here
