On the 15th and 16th March the Bedfordshire Students Union sent five of your elected delegates to the National Union of Students Annual Conference in Harrogate.
The NUS conference plays a vital role in shaping our activities by giving our students a voice on policies that impact them directly on a local and National level.
This year we were represented by your current Co-President Quadri Yusuf who was joined by the following elected student delegates;
- Prince Chukwu
- Lynsey Rush
- Laura Calin
- Oluwatomisin Sadiq
- Nivetha Nehru
Important debates
The subjects covered over the two days included workshops on;
- Cost of living crisis
- Housing
- International Students
- NUS transparency and accountability
At the end of a very busy and productive two days, Beds SU delegate, Lynsey Rush said,
“It was a real honour to be chosen to represent the Bedfordshire student community. There were some amazing debates over the two day conference. I was particularly interested in the policy on the cost of living crisis and housing issues faced by students. It’s going to be amazing to see how these policies will change student experience”.
Successes
We are delighted to report that the main policy proposals and amendments were debated, voted on and all passed!
As a result, the NUS stated that, “We’ll be getting to work on how passed policies will influence our campaign plan going forward, and we’ll be looking to engage with all of our members soon.”
Thank you
We would like to thank our six delegates for attending the conference and taking the time to represent the views of our student community!
