Last week Beds SU, in collaboration with the University put on a range of events for an International Festival of Culture. We were pleased to welcome over 800 students who took part in the activities on offer.
Bhangra afternoon
Our Bhangra afternoon was a hit event with over 360 students taking part throughout the day. Our students experienced a demonstration of Bangladeshi Traditional dance and had the chance to take part themselves! Afterwards, there were Henna hand tattoos on offer and a Bhangra disco. It was a great atmosphere throughout the day and we loved seeing your moves on The Metro floor. Thank you to all who attended and made it a special experience.
Multi-cultural fashion show
Our multi-cultural fashion show gave students (and staff) the opportunity to represent their culture and heritage through traditional clothes. Participants were judged by your Co-Vice President Mina Awal and prizes were given for the amazing outfits on show. We loved seeing our students represent their culture and we want to thank all who took part.
Drum workshop
Later in the week we held a drum workshop with Damilare Adetayo and students flocked to get involved. No matter the previous experience, beginners and experts were all welcomed and we were happy to see so many students enjoy the event.
Tai Chi
Finally, a more relaxed event in The Metro as students took part in a session of Tai Chi, a Chinese martial art practice for self-defence and health.
Other events
And there was more! We also held an Open Mic session and a Table Tennis tournament all alongside events run by the University of Bedfordshire. Once again, thank you all to who took part and made the week one to remember.
