When it comes to data protection, we are committed to ensuring your personal data is always kept safe and secure.  

Personal data

Your data is provided to us by the University of Bedfordshire and/or through your engagement with activities and services at Beds SU. One or more of the following form the lawful basis for collecting and processing your data: 

  • Contractual requirements
  • Explicit consent from data subjects
  • Legal Obligations
  • The legitimate interests of our members 

The purpose of this is to ensure we fulfil our obligations under the 1994 Education Act to represent students and conduct fair and democratic elections and to ensure we meet our charitable objectives which have been agreed by the charity commission.

Your trust is important to us and that’s why we are committed to being open and transparent regarding our collection and use of personal data. Our Privacy Notices explain how we collect, store and handle your personal data.

Email communication

Student Member and Guest Members can update their email communication preferences at any time via the Student Dashboard.

Data Access Requests

It's important to know that you have full control of the data we hold on you. You can request to view, update or delete your data at any time by emailing us at help@bedssu.co.uk. You can also update your details by logging into your Student Dashboard.
