Darts Society

Founded - July 2024

Members - 20

Where - Bedford Campus

Primarily based on the Bedford Campus, the Darts society has grown from strength to strength. As a group of like minded students, they wanted to share their love for the sport, but more importantly, wanted an excuse to meet new people and enjoy life away from their studies.

Luke Murray, (BA Hons) Sport and Physical Education, is one of the leading figures in the society and takes up the story...

"I think societies are important to university life because they create a sense of community and for those who entered university not knowing anyone and having to reach beyond their own comfort zone, it's very appealing joining a society where everyone is united by the same thing."

"We created this society based on our love for darts and wanting to have our own weekly gathering to play and socialize. Our thought was, other people would enjoy the sport as much as us and we could create competition whilst also getting to know new people and create new friendships."

"Currently the darts premier league is underway where 16 players compete over the course of 15 game weeks. In-between these game weeks are tournaments where all abilities are welcome to compete for a bit of fun and to introduce new people to darts.

During the game weeks for the 16 players, mini side tournaments are held to include anyone who turns up for that week. Lastly, a charity event is in the works to try and raise money for something we all feel passionately about and create a sense of unity between university students. "
