A charity trustee is a voluntary role that oversees how a charity achieves their goals and furthers their charitable mission long term.
Trustees commit to participating in online meetings (up to 7 per year each lasting 2 hours); they engage in some online training and attend an in-person Board ‘away day’ each October.
In addition, pre-reading of paperwork ahead of meetings will enhance collaboration with fellow trustees, and trustees are encouraged to develop relationships with elected students and staff by liaising regularly.

A trustee induction is required of all new trustees.
Board meetings normally take place in October, December, April and June; sub-committee meetings can occur in November, February/May and July. We try to be flexible to individual calendar conflicts, albeit it is not always possible.
- External Trustees serve up to 3 years and can be reinstalled for a further 3 years.
- Student Trustees serve up to 2 years and must remain students throughout.
