The cost-of-living is an issue effecting most people in the UK right now, including our student community.
Our Sabbs Team wanted to ensure that as your SU, we could play our part in offering short term support to students, experiencing extenuating circumstances and unforeseen hardship.
The Community Pantry is being trialled in Luton and the officers will monitor usage and consider opportunities to roll the initiative out on other campuses.
The Pantry relies on charity donations for supplies and your officers are working hard to secure more items.
Students who wish to access the Community Pantry can do so through our drop-ins on Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10.00-12.00 by coming to our Beds SU Helpdesk ( Luton campus, G block, Mezzanine Floor).
This is a FREE service and students will be able to choose 8 items from the following 10 categories (1 item per category):
- Soup
- Pasta
- Rice
- Tinned tomatoes/ pasta sauce
- Lentils, beans and pulses
- Tinned vegetables
- Biscuits
- UHT milk
- Hygiene
- Baby
Note: Those accessing the food pantry are encouraged to please check all allergen information on food items and within the pantry for their individual needs.
The community pantry functions as an emergency service for students. It is not intended for regular use but our advice team can provide information of further support available that can be accessed.
