Student Communities

What are Student Communities?

The purpose of Student Communities is to represent the diverse characteristics of the membership. They exist to advance the representation of student communities that are widely acknowledged to experience or have experienced oppression, exclusion or disadvantage. They will lead and seek change within the University, the Union and the wider student experience for those that they represent.

Who runs Student Communities?

Students! Student Communities are there for you. Beds SU will support all Communities and host meet-ups each semester. However, it is the membership, hence students, that will be able to choose the direction they want the Community to go in, whether that be lobbying for change, meeting to discuss lived experiences, or holding social events.

More interestingly, each Student Community will have the opportunity to elect a Community Champion who will be leading the running of the Community and working with the Union to ensure your voice is heard and you can have a positive experience at University. If you are a member and want to lead a Community, please do get in touch at help@bedssu.co.uk.

How do I Join?

Student Communities are open to all students and are free to join, the only requirement is that you self-define as having the association's characteristics.
