What are Student Networks?
The purpose of Student Networks is to represent the diverse characteristics of the Membership and exist to advance the representation of student communities that are widely acknowledged to experience or have experienced oppression, exclusion or disadvantage. They will lead and seek change within the University, the Union and the wider student experience for those that they represent.
Our current Student Networks are:
- Students with Disabilities Network
- Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Students’ Network
- Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans*, Plus (LGBT+) Student’s Network
Who runs Student Networks?
Students! Student Networks are there for you. Beds SU will support all networks and host meet-ups each semester. However, it is the membership, hence students, that will be able to choose the direction they want the Network to go in, whether that be lobbying for change, meeting to discuss lived experiences, or holding social events.
More interestingly, each Student Network will have the opportunity to elect a Student Rep/s who will be leading the running of the Network and working with the Union to ensure your voice is heard and you can have a positive experience at University. How do I Join?
Student Networks are open to all students and are free to join, the only requirement is that you self-define as having the association's characteristics.
